- JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate must meet the following qualifications and attributes:
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4).
- Current registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- A minimum of one (1) year’s practical nursing experience.
- Proficient in both Afrikaans and English.
- Previous experience in a retirement village, frail care, or aged care environment will be advantageous.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to supervise and support a team of Carers.
- A caring, compassionate, and resident-centred approach.
- Good organisational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- A positive attitude, emotional maturity, and an approachable personality that contributes to a warm and supportive environment.
- RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will perform the following:
- Manage the team of Carers to perform to maximum capability and the required standard.
- Develop and execute nursing plans, including monitoring vital signs and performing urinalysis.
- Observe and report residents’ reactions to medications and treatments to the Professional Nurse and Care Manager.
- Promote disease prevention and health awareness through education to Carers, residents and families.
- Maintain hygiene, physical comfort, and provide reassurance for residents.
- Encourage and support residents’ exercise, rest, and sleep to aid in rehabilitation.
- Prevent physical deformities and complications through proactive care.
- Promote optimal health outcomes for all residents.
- Assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under the supervision of a registered professional.
- Identify and report potential abuse in line with the established abuse protocol.
- Monitor and document any adverse reactions to treatments or medications.
- Should be able to work day or night shift.
