Residentia presented a first ever, unique training programme, from the 1st to the 5th of October 2018 – Residentia Mastercook Bootcamp.
22 Kitchen workers, that varied from cooks to Foodservices Managers, participated in this Training Programme. They were nominated by their Managers from across the 14 Residentia Homes countrywide.
Excited but unsure what to expect, they arrived at Residentia Mooi Hawens, Winkelspruit, who hosted the trainees for accommodation and meals. The daily motto was: “Expect the Unexpected”.
From setting foot down on KZN turf, they were challenged in different and unusual ways. Everything they did was a challenge and evaluated. They faced personal challenges as well as the challenge of working together as a close-knit team. They were challenged in their thinking of more creative out-of-the-box ways of doing things. They were exposed to different ways of doing things.
They had the privilege of professional chefs and lecturers teaching and demonstrating best practises. Surely one of the highlights was the training day at the Unilever SA Head office in Umhlanga, where they were challenged on a different level of performance and deliverance, which they all achieved with big success, much to their own surprise.
Their hard work and effort were celebrated with a prestige Gala Awards Function, which were completely unexpected. The Gala Awards was attended by Residentia Head Office Management, Mooi Hawens Management, Board members and Sponsors. Various category winners were announced, based on evaluations throughout the week. The overall winner of Mastercook Bootcamp 2018 was Antoinette Griessel from Bethulie.
